Claude Makes a Strong Debut

Anthropic’s launch of Claude for Financial Advisors became one of the biggest talking points on the opening day of the Future Proof Festival in Huntington Beach. The new offering brings Anthropic together with several major names in wealth management, including Dynasty Financial Partners, Charles Schwab and other technology and investment firms.

Unveiled Monday, the platform is designed to connect Claude with key systems used by financial advisors, including custodians, portfolio management platforms, customer relationship management systems and financial planning tools.

Industry Leaders Welcome the Move

Shirl Penney, founder and CEO of Dynasty Financial Partners, strongly endorsed the new technology during a panel discussion at Future Proof’s Ocean Stage. Penney said advisors generally enter the profession to work with clients and provide financial guidance, rather than spend most of their time handling administrative and back-office tasks. He suggested Claude could help reduce that burden and allow advisors to focus more on serving clients.

He also highlighted the broad industry support behind the initiative. Companies involved include Charles Schwab, BlackRock, iCapital, Addepar, Envestnet, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard and Zocks. According to Penney, the level of cooperation among major industry players makes the launch particularly significant for the independent wealth management sector, especially as demand for financial advice grows and service costs continue to rise.

Focus on Responsible AI

Anthropic’s Peter Nolan, head of asset and wealth management, described the company as a responsible AI provider during the panel. Addressing concerns about how advisor data would be handled, Nolan said Anthropic does not train its AI models on customer data.

The approach is expected to be important as financial firms increasingly look to integrate AI into systems that handle sensitive client and portfolio information.

Advisors See Potential Benefits

Financial advisors attending the festival also expressed optimism about the technology. Charlie Rocco, CEO of Moneco Advisors, said he believes Claude is more likely to support advisors than replace them.

He pointed to the ability to use natural language to interact with and update multiple systems as a potentially major improvement to advisor workflows.

Hugh Gallagher, CEO of Ireland-based Peak Financial, also praised the seamless integrations available in the US market. However, he noted that Ireland’s financial technology environment remains more fragmented, making similar connections more challenging.

Overall, the launch reflects growing interest in AI tools that can connect different parts of the financial advisor technology stack while reducing administrative work.
